THE MYTH OF SAFETY

Throughout history, the space between what we know for sure and what lies ahead has been called the "unknown" by wise people, mystics, and thinkers. When we feel like our safety is at stake, the thought of the unknown can bring about feelings of anxiety. For those who have experienced trauma or grew up in an unstable environment, the desire and effort to feel "normal" and to avoid the fear of uncertainty can be overwhelming. We encapsulate our wounds to protect us from pain, to feel secure, and possibly to avoid "breakdown" and dissolution. We often develop harmful habits or false protections and construct barriers, fabricate stories, or rely on relationships for safety.

Embracing vulnerability becomes paradoxical yet critical to genuine security, as absolute safety remains an elusive mirage. I imagine a refuge, sanctuary, retreat, and shelter- places that embody a sense of motion, a transition zone between entering and leaving- a liminal space. A sanctuary provides a place to rest and regain strength before returning to the world. Here, you can stay intact and practice the art of being vulnerable.

“To live a life free and unencumbered, we must confront our fears."

"The way out is through." Robert Frost

This workshop will utilize constellations, small group exercises, and rituals to explore safety, certainty, and fear. It invites you to remain open and vulnerable during turbulent times, achieve balance, and develop strategies for a more satisfying and fulfilling life.
