THE MYTH OF SAFETY

Throughout history, the space between what we know for sure and what lies ahead has been called the "unknown" by wise people, mystics, and thinkers. When we feel like our safety is at stake, the thought of the unknown can bring about feelings of anxiety. For those who have experienced trauma or grew up in an unstable environment, the desire and effort to feel "normal" and to avoid the fear contained in uncertainty can be overwhelming. We will encapsulate our early childhood traumas to protect us from pain, to feel safe, and possibly to avoid "breakdown." We often develop harmful habits, construct barriers, fabricate stories, or rely on relationships for safety. To live a life free and unencumbered, we must confront our fears.

"The way out is through." Robert Frost

During this workshop, you will have the chance to delve into safety, certainty, and fear. Through constellations, small group exercises, and rituals, you will develop the ability to embrace uncertainty, understand what it means to feel safe, find balance in your life, and develop strategies to lead a more open and fulfilling life.

2024 BERKSHIRE RETREAT: CLOSER TO THE GROUND

What I have learned about Family Constellations over the years is that the practice disrupts and dissolves any delusions we have about our families of origin and ourselves. As my colleague and friend Sneh Schnabel says, this method invites you down and closer to what is, and yes, possibly lays you flat on your back. While lying on the Earth, you become rooted, supported, and held by the ground that's always been here. By trusting gravity, you anchor and relearn to inhabit your body. There are no fairies or flying monkeys to sweep you away. It's just you, the pain, the grief, and yes, joy! As you embrace your existence and listen to the whispers of nature and the depths of your soul, you enter into a new conversation, and healing begins.

Through Constellations, rituals, and exercises, we will explore what it means to surrender to the ground, to re-inhabit our lives, and to stand.

Space is limited to 14 participants! A $50 non-refundable deposit is required to guarantee your place. You cannot hold a place via text, email, or phone call. In past years the Retreat sold out in 10 days!

Testimonial:

"Heartfelt thanks for making space for a beautiful memory. I feel complete and filled up from the life-affirming weekend retreat in Hillsdale.

Although terrified, I arrived at the prospect of almost three days and three nights with strangers. I felt quickly at ease in the energy of that beautiful house and its surroundings, my fellow retreaters' openness, warmth, and humor, and Bill's strong and gentle presence and expertise in creating a safe atmosphere.

The movie title for the weekend would be "Cry Eat Laugh": Everyone who wanted to be the subject of a Constellation could flow in with time, space and reverence. We were all touched deeply by the Field and the magical dynamics of Constellating, whether as subject, representative, or witness. Then we ate, family-style, around a beautiful big table: Delicious food, nature's abundance, washed down with laughter. We entertained ourselves in the evening and learned more about each other through fun parlor games. People flowed in and out of these too. The loving, respectful, and welcoming space w held throughout the weekend.

When I tuned in for my morning practice today, I noticed a distinct relaxation in my lower belly. I could access a place that my "less-than," my "votes of no confidence for me"- my neuroses..previously occupied, and find open and spacious for the first time I can remember. I feel I have come home. I am indeed grateful. "KC

Workshop: How Do You Want to Be Loved?

Paris, France, in English with French translation: This seminar grew out of the question above: How Do You Want To Be Loved? When I would ask this question of clients, there often followed a pause, a slight shudder in the body, a deep sigh, and sometimes tears. I am interested in that pause, the body response, the exquisite raw emotion that said, "See me."
